Vibrant Neighbourhoods - Submission #116
Street Block Square (SBS) applies the row house typology to the Little Mountain Neighbourhood. 3.5 storey houses achieve a gross density of 108 units per acre, or 2.0 GFSR. The houses are arranged in blocks to shape human-scale public open spaces. Three squares—James, Oriole & Grouse—structure the neighbourhood. They are linked by streets, lanes and pathways. Each square has a distinctive signature to enhance way-finding. The central square is gateway to Main Street, home to a handful of businesses, and the Neighbourhood House.
