Building Bold - Submission #67
If we could learn to make things and do things the way nature does, we could achieve savings in resource and energy use. It is time to invite biologist to the design table and learn how to increase the recourse efficiency, process and design things that return to the closed loop of nature cycle. For example, biologists have discovered that the sticky compound in the bottom of mushrooms called mycelium can digest what we consider waste-like seed husks or corn husk and transform them into a chitinouse polymer, which we can form any shape we want. This self assembling organism will result in an insulating, light weight, water/fire resistant materials which we can recycle in our back yard.
